About Holmarte — Handcrafted
Holmarte is an Indian wooden home decor and home essentials brand based in Kerala, founded by George Jacob in 2021. We design and hand-make wood intarsia wall art, keyholders, hanging lights, plant stands, sculptures, organisers, and curios — sold online, Indiawide, at www.holmarte.com.
Every Holmarte product starts as a log of timber and ends as a piece your home won't find anywhere else. Here's how, and why.
Our Story: A Sawmill in 1986, A Decor
Brand in 2021
Holmarte's roots go back to 1986, when my father, A.V. Jacob, started a timber business and sawmill in Upputhara, Idukki district, Kerala — in the heart of the Western Ghats, surrounded by some of the best hard wood-growing forests in South India. For over three decades, our family has worked with timber: buying, ageing, and cutting wood.
I'm George Jacob, an engineering graduate, and I grew up around that sawmill. In 2021, I started Holmarte to turn that timber knowledge into something new -handcrafted wooden decor and home essentials, made in our own factory and sold directly to customers across India through our online store.
So when you buy from Holmarte, you're not buying from a reseller. You're buying from a family that has been sourcing, judging, and shaping wood for nearly 40 years.
Why We Started Holmarte
We make wooden products people haven't already seen everywhere else. Our process is simple: we look at what's out there, take inspiration, and then redesign it in our own style — and where the product is a functional home essential, we try to add a feature or improvement nobody else has thought of.
Holmarte is for people who:
- Love nature and want that warmth reflected in their home.
- Are decorating their interiors and want a wooden accent piece, not a mass-produced one.
- Want home essentials that are also genuinely good-looking.
- Are searching for decor "nobody else has" — pieces that aren't on every other shelf.
- Appreciate premium, luxury-grade wooden Craftsmanship
If that's you, our catalogue is built for you.
How We Craft Every Piece
1. Sourcing — We buy round log wood and judge it primarily on the maturity (age) of the tree, not just size or price. Mature wood holds its shape and finish far better over time.
2. Seasoning — After the logs are cut, every batch is seasoned before any product work begins. This step alone is what separates decor that lasts from decor that warps or cracks within a year.
3. Hand-crafting — Our skilled carpenters shape, carve, and finish each piece by hand, to the design we give them. No two pieces are identical in the way only handmade work can be.
4. Quality check & packing — Before dispatch, every product is quality checked and then packed in multiple protective layers to survive the journey across India.
5. Delivery — We offer free home delivery anywhere in India, and our courier partners take it from our workshop to your door.
6. Feedback loop — After delivery, we follow up with customers to ask if they're satisfied. That feedback directly shapes our next batch of products and designs.

Frequently asked questions
Where are Holmarte products made?
All Holmarte products are designed and hand-made in our own factory in Kerala, India, using wood sourced both locally (Idukki and surrounding regions) and through imported premium timber.
Are Holmarte products handmade or machine-made?
Handmade. Our skilled carpenters craft each piece by hand based on our in-house designs. Machines are used only where needed for cutting and prep — the shaping, fitting, and finishing is manual.
What is wood intarsia art?
Intarsia is a woodworking technique where different pieces of wood — often different species, colors, and grains — are cut and fitted together like a puzzle to form a picture or pattern, then sanded flush and finished as one panel. It's one of Holmarte's signature product categories.
What types of wood does Holmarte use?
We use locally sourced Kerala teak, rosewood, mahogany, kumbil wood, and jackwood, along with imported padauk, violet wood, white ash, and walnut for our premium collection.
How does Holmarte choose its timber?
We prioritize the maturity (age) of the log over size or
price, since mature wood holds its shape and finish
better. After cutting, every log is seasoned before we
begin making any product.
Is delivery free across India?
Yes. Holmarte offers free home delivery anywhere in India, with multi-level protective packing to ensure products arrive safely.
Can I get a custom design made?
Yes. We welcome custom orders. Since every custom piece is built specifically for you — to your design brief and measurements — we begin with a detailed discussion to make sure we have complete clarity on what you need before any work starts. Please reach out to us via our website or contact details to start that conversation. Please note that custom orders are nonreturnable and non-exchangeable, as they are made exclusively to your specification.
What is Holmarte's return or exchange policy?
We do not accept returns, but if you receive a product that is damaged or incorrect, we will replace it with a new one at no cost to you. To initiate an exchange, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with details and photos of the issue. Custom-made orders are not eligible for exchange, as they are built exclusively to your specifications.
Does Holmarte ship outside India?
Yes. Due to increasing interest from customers outside India, we now ship internationally. Shipping charges and delivery timelines for international orders may vary by destination — please contact us before placing your order and we'll confirm the details for your country.
